Train Hard. Sweat Hard.

Alexis Michaud Marathon Row/Bike Fundraiser November 6th

On November 6th, 2021 we rowed a marathon for Alexis Michaud.  Each team rowed or biked an accumulated total of 42,195 meters. We had teams from other gyms join us remotely. All proceeds went to the Michaud family. A special thank you to Pete Carney for putting the idea in our heads. A special shout out to CrossFit Bangor and their teams that participated, Brad Demers, Kinsey Durgin, Matt Keep and Jenna Simanovsky for their participation and Scott Buldoc from CrossFit 137 for his participation.

The Shop was started by Beth and Shawn Cyr in the summer of 2020. What started out as a home gym built on steroids, turned into the weekend workout spot for Beth and Shawn's big group of CrossFit loving friends. After a year of fitness with friends Beth and Shawn decided to pursue their dream of owning a CrossFit gym.

The Shop isn't just a place to come to workout. This is a place you come to build lifelong relationships. Beth, Shawn, and the rest of the staff here welcome everyone and it feels like a homecoming for most. The passion, the love for fitness and friends is what drives the heartbeat of the gym.

Our Community

The focus and heartbeat of The Shop.

Our Coaches

Bethany Cyr

Head Coach and co-owner of The Shop, I grew up in Ellsworth, Maine. I moved to Augusta in 2009. I joined a CrossFit gym in 2016. I fell in love with the community and the friendships it built. After a few years I wanted to get more involved. Coaching was a great fit for me. Fitness for me is about the people and the connections that are made, so come join our fitness family.

Come meet ME at The Shop!

Steph Nadeau

I'm grew up in Madawaska, Maine and have been a CrossFit trainer since 2014. I have hiked all 67 of the 4000 footers in New England, the 100 Mile Wilderness, and just recently completed the Long Trail in Vermont. As a CrossFit coach, avid hiker, obstacle racer and Physical Education teacher I believe fitness allows us to live our most fulfilling lives! Helping people unlock their potential and achieve overall wellness are both passions of mine. Fitness and connection are two key components of that! Come meet ME at The Shop!

Chris Clark

I grew up in Mt. Vernon, Maine, am married and have two very active boys. I have been a certified CF Level 1 Coach for 2 years. I started out as a gym member and then was asked to start coaching. I am always seeking out knowledge about new and challenging things, and coaching was just that for me. I am a custom cabinet maker by day, weekend endurance obstacle racer, and CrossFit enthusiast by night. Come meet ME at The Shop!

Vanessa Knipping

I was born in Connecticut and have been a Mainer for the past 20 years.  I found CrossFit in 2010 and after doing classes for a few months, I knew I wanted to coach others because of how CrossFit had impacted my life – creating a shift in mentality from “how I looked and how much I weighed” to having more strength-based goals.  I qualified for and competed at Regionals in 2014.  In 2016 I shifted my focus to powerlifting and competed at USAPL Powerlifting Nationals in 2017 and 2018. CrossFit continues to be an integral part of my training program and I have my sights set on being a Figure competitor. I am a girl mom, animal lover, wife, nutrition dork and Clinical Research Coordinator at the VA.  I love helping people along their fitness journey from the enthusiastic beginner to the seasoned competitor. Come meet ME at The Shop!

Sonja grew up in China, Maine. She has been coaching softball for over a decade. She is currently the Pitching coach at Colby College and CMCC. Some of Sonja’s favorite past times are participating in GoRuck events, which she has been doing since 2018. She has completed 5 marathon rucks among many others. She loves spoiling her 3 cats and like most of us, enjoys a great cup of coffee! Sonja believes that CrossFit is a lifestyle to wellness by using our own bodies and minds to fulfill our maximum potential. Being a coach is one of her biggest passions in life. She wants to empower and motivate each person she meets.
